Posted by admin On March - 12 - 2010

motorola_backflip

Lately, we heard that AT&T using their Android based phones are taking Google applications, in the same way Motorola Backflip will be using Yahoo.

Now, Google apps are being replaced by Motorola, combined with Microsoft. They bring MS Bring services to their Android Power phones. The switch will give to users choice they are restricting on one search or in both.

Motorola Mobile Devices, corporate vice president of software and services, Christy Wyatt told that both Motorola and Microsoft teams are enjoying ever lasting collaboration and in addition of Bing services to their Android based smarphones. He also said they believe to ensure, consumer choice is one of the most critical components.

In china, this was tested with global expectations. However, Motorola has its own syncing system and UI.

Motorola Devour spotted in the wild, sized up against a Nexus One

Posted by janet On February - 4 - 2010

x1-android-rm-engWhile just recently made official, there have been plenty of Motorola Devour leaks over the years (er, months) to keep us occupied. This latest one has the aluminum colored phone sized up in bokeh-filled and yet surprisingly small, compressed and grainy shots — as if Mr. Blurrycam is holding up a nice, low aperture DSLR lens to his RAZR’s sensor. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts. What’s particularly helpful here is this comparison shot with the Nexus One, which shows the Devour to be a good bit larger, despite its significantly smaller screen size.

Motorola Devour confirmed in box shot

Posted by jason On February - 2 - 2010

motodevour-leaklgMotorola’s Devour edged closer to launch on Monday with a shot of a box destined for Verizon shops. The Android slider should ultimately reach Verizon in silver and will emphasize MOTOBLUR just as much as the Cliq at T-Mobile. It also drops any immediate connection to the Droid label.

Price details and the actual release date still aren’t public but, with the new slip, is likely soon.

The Devour is poised to be a lower-cost alternative to the Droid with a 3-megapixel camera and a smaller, lower resolution display. It would also be the first Motorola Android 2.x phone to use the custom MOTOBLUR interface and will carry an uncommon optical trackpad for navigating one-handed.

Motorola will sell a phone through Google this year

Posted by janet On January - 29 - 2010

moto-backflip-smEarnings calls tend to be about as exciting as a stale piece of white bread, but every once in a while something juicy falls through — and morsels are filtering out of the earnings call that Motorola held this morning. Here are the biggies:

* We hope you like Blur, because it’s not going anywhere. CEO Sanjay Jha says that “the majority of our new smartphone [sic] this year will feature” the platform, and that it’ll “include enhancements to address the prosumer segment of the market.” They’re looking to rope in media (music, photos, and so on) the same way they did social networking, boost enterprise compatibility for white collar types that only have one phone, and improve network efficiency to ease up on battery drain. All good things, we reckon.
* Feature phones in Moto’s range will “meaningfully decline” as it heads toward planned profitability in the fourth quarter through higher-margin smartphones. Android isn’t the only game plan, though — it’ll continue to develop its ultra low-end handsets for emerging markets.
* Following the Nexus One’s lead, Jha said that it’ll launch “at least one direct-to-consumer device with Google.” That matches up nicely with a statement he made during our CES interview that “there will be multiple devices [launched through Google] and I think that we said ‘yes’ today that probably this next device is our device.”

All told, we have every reason to believe that this’ll be an exciting year for Moto fans — and that HTC needs to keep a close eye on these guys.

Moto CLIQ hacked to enable FM radio

Posted by jason On January - 29 - 2010

moto-cliqWe wouldn’t rate the ability to tune FM radio highly on our wishlist of missing features on Motorola’s CLIQ, but nonetheless an Android tweaker by the name of Eugene has figured out how to deliver it. The necessary receiving hardware for pulling down the Weekly Top 40 was actually there all the time, Eugene just needed some binary files — and to believe. Once he believed hard enough, clapped his hands, and copied over those files, presto he was groovin’. He hasn’t released a working version of his tweak to the world just yet, but we presume that will be coming soon enough.
