"Dell to Strike with its First Consumer Tablet in Late 2012"Here we go with a latest report from Dell, which has confirmed at Consumer Electronics Show that it will take on the iPad and other Android-based tablets with its own Tablet later this year.

Steve Felice, the Chief Commercial Officer of Dell says that you will see us (Dell) enter this tablet market in a superior way toward the end of the year, as a result we are not really deemphasizing it, we are actually being cautious how we enter it.

Further he states that when you are talking regarding PC, people are more paying attention on the hardware itself. When you are talking regarding the smartphone or tablet, people are interested in the entire environment it’s operating in. Since we (Dell) have matured in this, we are spending additional time in the overall ecosystem.

On the other hand, Steve Felice has not confirmed what OS Dell would use for its forthcoming tablets. The ill-fated Streak, which features 7-inch depend on Google’s Android, whereas tablets running Microsoft’s Windows 8 are as well being shown off by other hardware manufacturers at CES.

Steve Felice told the media, that we like Windows 8, although we carry on to develop with Android also. We (Dell) are yet going to be more choice-driven depending on the feedback we get from clientele.

At CES, Steve Ballmer’s (Microsoft CEO) keynote address was Windows 8 tablets. More willingly than adding touch controls to the usual Windows interface, as Microsoft has done in the past, Windows 8 on tablets will use the Metro user interface, which the Software giant has launched on its Windows Phone series.

Despite the fact that he didn’t unveil a preference one way or the other among Windows 8 and Android, Felice confessed the timing of the release of Windows 8, likely to launch later this year, would be fortuitous, since he feels that there has not been a lot of progress in the tablet market.
