Samsung has unveiled its newest update to its 2nd-generation Series 9 ultraportable notebook at the CES 2012. Well, designing cues from the original Series 9 and refines them, resulted into a thinner and in many ways more attractive laptop.
The most outstanding fresh feature is a stone metal finish. The new Series 9 is less than half an inch thick and weighs just 2.5 pounds, that it’s not that far off from some early tablets in the market. High-end aluminum covers the frame that yet manages to expose a few connectivity ports on the side, equipped with standard Core processor and SSD options, together with a few more configurable settings
Samsung’s second-generation Series 9 ultraportable notebook the 15-incher’s thickness down to just 0.58-inches and weighs down to 3.5lbs, powered by a Core i3/i5 processor, and armed with up to 8GB of memory and a 128/256GB SSD.
Both 13- and 15-inch models of Samsung offer with boot times of just 9.8s and 1.4s wake-from-sleep. For the 15-inch model the battery life is rated up to 10hrs, in spite of Samsung using new, HD+ SuperBright Plus 1600 x 900 screens. These are in fact 180-percent brighter than the first-generation Series 9, and have anti-reflective coatings and 160-degree viewing angles.
The new Samsung Series 9 2nd-generation will be striking the market in February, 13-inch model it has been price tagged at $1,399, while the 15-inch for $1,499.
