Well, the sources at the PC industry in Taiwan claim that the Search Giant’s plan to release its own tablet, the Google Nexus, in the next 6 months may perhaps lead to conflicts with branded PC vendors, who are cooperating with the Search Giant to launch Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-based tablet PCs in the first half of 2012.
In Italy, during a recent interview with the media, Eric Schmidt, the Chairman of Google has unveiled the Company’s roadmap for the Google Nexus.
The Sources argued that the most important concern of the local PC industry is that Google Nexus is expected to run on Android 4.1, whereas those Ice Cream Sandwich models to be landed out in the first half of 2012 are to be powered by Android 4.0. A development which is expected to cause delayed effects in the purchase of Android tablet PCs by customers.
As you are aware, Asustek Computer has launched Android 4.0 tablet PCs, and on the other hand, sources indicated that Lenovo and Acer will release similar models in early 2012. Those Android 4.0 models can be upgraded to Android 4.1 when the new Operating System is accessible.
The Sources indicated that the dominance of iPads in the tablet PC market and the triumphant launch of low-priced Kindle Fires and Nook Tablets have enforced some PC vendors to review their strategies for their tablet PC lines.
Finally, the sources noted that Acer’s latest decision to revamp its product lineups planning to cut its product lines by two-thirds in 3 years will serve as a warning to the tablet PC industry.
