"OnLive Strikes Android & iOS Devices"OnLive, the Cloud gaming service is taking its cloud-based show to tablets and smartphones, with a complete suite of apps available this week for Android and iOS devices bringing console-class gaming to WiFi and 3G/4G mobile devices with an optional wireless controller.

According to the official reports from the Company, this updated control pad uses what OnLive calls “adaptive wireless” to automatically find the best connection with your PC, Mac, TV, Blu-ray player, tablet or smartphone, and will strike the market on December 9 at a price tag of $49.99 with a number of different radio protocols, which will create a one-size-fits-all connection to whatever mobile device you are using.

On the other hand, the iOS and Android apps themselves are free; however you will have to pay OnLive for the privilege of using the games. If you’re on a budget, you can avoid the wireless controller and merely stick with the touchscreen on your tablet or phone, despite the fact that only 25 titles actually support that method of input and if you want to use most OnLive’s have almost 200 games, for which you will need that controller.

The Cloud gaming service says that up to 4 controllers can be paired with a PC by using a bundled USB adapter, together with a Bluetooth headset for in-game voice communication, and is powered either by a pair of AA batteries or an OnLive rechargeable pack, which can be connect through a USB connection and it sounds as if it is good for up to 36hrs of play.

Those gaming on their tablets or phones can play against others using their Mac, PC or the OnLive Microconsole itself, and all the common social and Brag Clip features are present. On Android, OnLive users will be able to purchase the games directly, although on iOS, because of Apple’s required cut on in-app purchases, users have to buy the games on a PC or Mac before loading them up in the app.
