Samsung has just now unveiled its newest mobile chipset, the Samsung Exynos 5250, a 2GHz dual-core designed for next-generation tablets and smartphones. Equipped with a pair of ARM Cortex-A15 cores, the Exynos 5250 follows Samsung’s successful 4210 chip of Company’s best-selling handset series; Galaxy S II.
According to the official reports from the Company, the new Exynos 5250 boosts 3D graphics performance by four times and is as well capable of driving higher-resolution screens, the sort of pixel-dense panels we can anticipate to see on next-generation tablets.
Actually, up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution is supported; remarkable most Android tablets presently run at a mere 1280 x 800 resolution. Samsung’s chip might double up that resolution for crisper graphics, clearer text, and with the enhanced 3D grunt, faster gaming.
Moreover, there is native support for stereoscopic 3D. In comparison to 1.5GHz dual-core Cortex A9 chips, the latest Exynos 5250 is approximately twice as fast, and at the same time capable of processing at 14,000 DMIPS versus the last-generation’s 7,500 DMIPS.
Samsung says that the 32nm 5250 takes advantage of low-power HKMG (high-k metal gate, High-K Metal Gate) manufacturing processes. Further the Company states that it will start production of the Exynos 5250 in the second quarter of 2012, with samples available to manufacturers currently.
